The Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Professor Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, has announced the restoration of the institution’s AGRI VOICE 106.9 FM radio station as part of a broader reform agenda aimed at strengthening agricultural communication, research dissemination and community engagement.
Speaking on achievements recorded within her first 100 days in office, Professor Akanwa said the revived radio station would serve as a strategic platform for disseminating agricultural innovations, climate-resilient farming practices and research findings to farmers and the wider public.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the station will bridge the gap between research institutions and farming communities by ensuring that valuable scientific information reaches end users in a timely and accessible manner.
She noted that AGRI VOICE 106.9 FM will also provide relevant information to members of the university community while promoting awareness on modern agricultural practices capable of improving productivity and enhancing food security.
Professor Akanwa explained that the restoration of the station forms part of ongoing efforts to reposition the university, strengthen its extension services and reinforce its mandate as a centre of excellence in agricultural education and research.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of effective communication in promoting the adoption of innovative technologies and climate-smart agricultural practices among farmers.
