FG VALIDATES 10-YEAR AGRIFOOD STRATEGY TO STRENGTHEN FOOD SECURITY.

The Federal Government has validated the National Agrifood System Strategy and Action Plan (2026–2035), marking a significant step towards strengthening Nigeria’s food systems and accelerating the achievement of national food security goals.

The strategy, validated in Abuja is designed to guide the implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala Declaration over the next decade, providing a comprehensive framework for sustainable agricultural development.

Speaking at the validation meeting, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON, described the exercise as a critical milestone in Nigeria’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive and competitive agrifood system capable of guaranteeing food security and driving economic growth.

According to the Minister, the strategy provides a clear implementation framework to guide agricultural investments, strengthen collaboration across all tiers of government, improve accountability and ensure interventions deliver measurable outcomes for farmers and other stakeholders along the agricultural value chain.
