Leading the headlines, the Federal Government, in collaboration with the private sector has intensified efforts to drive growth in Nigeria’s agro-industrial space. The partnership focuses on boosting productivity, improving value chains and attracting investments into agribusiness, signaling renewed commitment to economic diversification through agriculture.

In a related development, Agrigens Media has called on farmers, agripreneurs and stakeholders to prioritise their health as the world marked the 2026 World Health Day. The organisation emphasised that good health remains essential for productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector urging routine medical checks and improved work-life balance among practitioners.

On the international front, the World Bank has approved a $500 million credit facility to support new agricultural initiatives targeting smallholder farmers. The intervention is expected to enhance access to finance, improve resilience and promote modern farming practices, particularly among rural farming communities.

Meanwhile, livestock stakeholders from across the North Central and Southwest regions convened in Ilorin, Kwara State to advance plans for the establishment of a regional fodder hub. The initiative is aimed at strengthening feed availability, supporting livestock productivity and addressing challenges associated with pasture scarcity in the corridor.

In West Africa, Niger Republic has announced plans to expand access to improved seeds through the establishment of seed multiplication centres. The move is expected to boost crop yields, enhance food security and support farmers with high-quality planting materials.

Additionally, Nigeria’s Minister for Agriculture hosted United Nations officials in a strategic meeting focused on enhancing youth inclusion in agriculture. The engagement underscored the importance of empowering young people through innovation, capacity building, and access to resources to secure the future of the sector.
