The World Aquaculture Society (WAS) has announced the recipients of its prestigious 2026 Honors and Awards recognizing distinguished individuals for their outstanding contributions, leadership, innovation, and service to global aquaculture and the Society.
According to the Society the awards celebrate excellence across science, industry, education, sustainability, outreach, institutional leadership and professional service while reflecting the mission and values of the World Aquaculture Society in advancing aquaculture development worldwide.
In the list of award recipients Dr. Jay Parsons was presented with the Exemplary Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the aquaculture sector and professional service.
The Honorary Life Award one of the Society’s highest recognitions, was bestowed on Prof. Charlie Yarish for his long-standing dedication and remarkable impact on aquaculture development and the advancement of the Society.
Similarly, the prestigious Fellows Award was presented to Dr. Kathy Hartman, Dr. James L. Anderson, and Prof. Yoni Zohar for their outstanding achievements, leadership, and enduring contributions to aquaculture science, reseaech and education.
The Industry Impact Award was awarded to Prof. Martins Anetekhai, Dr. Marcus A. Adeniyi, and Ms. Teri King in recognition of their significant contributions to industry growth, innovation and sustainable aquaculture practices.
The World Aquaculture Society noted that the distinguished awardees represent excellence across various areas of aquaculture and have played critical roles in strengthening scientific innovation, sustainability, professional development, and global aquaculture advancement.
The Society congratulated all recipients for their remarkable achievements and invaluable contributions, describing them as worthy ambassadors of the World Aquaculture Society and the global aquaculture community.
