The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev has called on Nigerians to embrace unity of purpose and remain committed to nation-building in order to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for the country.
Prof. Utsev made the call on Thursday 11th June 2026 while speaking with journalists at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly after attending the 27th Democracy Day Lecture commemorating Nigeria’s uninterrupted democratic journey.
The Minister stressed the urgent need for citizens to unite irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political affiliations, noting that national cohesion remains critical to achieving meaningful progress and building a prosperous Nigeria.
According to him, Nigeria’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, which coincides with the three years of significant achievements recorded under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reflects the collective resolve of Nigerians to uphold democratic values and strengthen national institutions.
Prof. Utsev commended Nigerians for sustaining democratic governance and acknowledged the strides made under the current administration in advancing national development.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as purposeful and selfless leadership, noting that the administration’s policies have continued to provide hope and renewed optimism for future generations.
The Minister assured Nigerians that the water resources and sanitation sector under his leadership would continue to witness transformative growth and improved service delivery in line with the administration’s development agenda.
Prof. Utsev also applauded the National Assembly, the Judiciary, the military, other security agencies, and the media for their contributions toward nurturing and strengthening Nigeria’s democracy over the years.
He further appealed to Nigerians to continue praying for and supporting President Tinubu and members of his cabinet to enable them effectively deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda for the overall betterment of the nation.
