WORLD AQUACULTURE SOCIETY CONGRATULATES NEWLY ELECTED OFFICERS AND REGIONAL DIRECTORS.

The World Aquaculture Society (WAS) has congratulated its newly elected officers and regional representatives following the successful completion of its 2026 election process.

The Society disclosed that the election which was announced between February and March 2026, concluded with a voting deadline of March 26th 2026, drawing participation from members across its global network.

Among those elected is Luis-Andre Gonzalez-Agraz, who emerged as President-Elect. His election is expected to usher in renewed leadership focused on strengthening aquaculture development and global collaboration within the Society.

Also elected is Dr. Matt Parker as Treasurer, a role that places him in charge of overseeing the financial affairs of the organization.

In the category of Directors, Dr. Bibha Kumari and Dr. Olarewaju Badmus were both elected, reflecting WAS’s commitment to diverse expertise and inclusive leadership in advancing the aquaculture sector.

Additionally, Mr. Luttamaguzi Abdul Noor was elected as Student Director, a position aimed at enhancing youth engagement and representation within the Society’s activities.

The World Aquaculture Society commended all participants in the electoral process noting that the exercise was conducted in line with its democratic values and principles.

With the new leadership team in place the Society expressed optimism that the officers will contribute significantly to promoting innovation, sustainability and capacity development in aquaculture worldwide.
