TARABA L-PRES BEGINS PROCUREMENT FOR LIVESTOCK INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS.

The Taraba State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has commenced the procurement process for key infrastructure projects aimed at transforming livestock production and improving the livelihoods of pastoralist communities across the state.

The initiative, supported by the World Bank, is designed to strengthen the livestock sector through the provision of critical facilities and services that will enhance productivity and build resilience among livestock farmers.

According to project officials, the planned interventions include the development of water facilities, livestock support infrastructure and environmental management systems to address some of the major challenges facing pastoral communities.

The projects are expected to improve access to water for livestock, enhance animal health and production and promote sustainable management of natural resources within grazing areas.

Stakeholders noted that the interventions would contribute to increased productivity, reduced vulnerability to climate-related shocks and improved incomes for livestock farmers across the state.

The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project is part of broader efforts to modernise Nigeria’s livestock industry strengthen value chains and promote peaceful and sustainable livestock production.

With support from the World Bank, the Taraba State Government aims to create an enabling environment that will encourage investment in the livestock sector while improving the welfare and economic opportunities available to pastoralist communities.

The initiative is also expected to support food security, job creation and rural development, reinforcing the state’s commitment to building a more resilient and productive livestock industry.
