The Government of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, officially launched the World Aquaculture 2026 (WA26T) Conference on July 13, 2026, marking the beginning of preparations for one of the world’s largest aquaculture events. The conference will take place in Dar es Salaam from December 1–4, 2026 under the theme “Aquaculture Driving Blue Transformation.”
Key Highlights of the conference includes the following:
Tanzania signed the official hosting agreement with the World Aquaculture Society (WAS), outlining responsibilities for organizing the global event.
The conference is expected to attract over 2,000 delegates from more than 100 countries, including researchers, policymakers, investors, industry leaders, and development partners.
The conference discussions will focus on the following:
Sustainable aquaculture development, Food security, Blue Economy growth, Innovation and technology, Investment opportunities, Aquatic food systems and value chains.
The event will feature keynote speeches, scientific presentations, policy dialogues, business networking, and an international exhibition showcasing new aquaculture technologies and services.
Tanzania also launched the Aquatic Foods Recipe Book – Tanzania, developed with WorldFish and Aquatic BioSolutions Tanzania to promote fish consumption, improve nutrition, strengthen fisheries value chains, and create new market opportunities.
The World Aquaculture Society invited sponsors, exhibitors, researchers and aquaculture professionals worldwide to register and participate in the conference.
