The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has recorded another milestone as its Deputy Bursar I, Dr. Margaret Omisope, emerges as the second substantive Bursar of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
In a statement issued by the Acting Head of FUNAAB’s Directorate of Public Relations (DPR), Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, the appointment was described as a recognition of Dr. Omisope’s professional competence, dedication to service and extensive experience in university financial administration.
Olajide noted that her appointment further highlights FUNAAB’s contribution to developing professionals who continue to make significant contributions to Nigeria’s university system.
The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated Dr. Omisope on her appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of her years of dedicated service, professional achievements and commitment to excellence.
According to Olajide, the Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence that her experience, academic qualifications and administrative expertise would contribute to the effective financial management and institutional development of BOUESTI. He also wished her a successful tenure, urging her to uphold the principles of integrity, accountability and professionalism in her new role.
Dr. Omisope is a seasoned accounting professional and university administrator with more than two decades of experience in financial management and institutional administration.
She joined FUNAAB in 1999 as an Accountant II in the Bursary Department and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Bursar in 2024.
During her career at the University, she served in various divisions of the Bursary Department, gaining extensive experience in financial operations and administrative processes. She also served as Acting Managing Director of the UNAAB Microfinance Bank, further strengthening her expertise in financial management.
Academically, Dr. Omisope obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University (EKSU), in 1998. She earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ado-Ekiti, now EKSU, in 2003.
She subsequently obtained a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, in 2022 and completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting at the same institution in 2026.
Dr. Omisope is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Public Management of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. She also obtained a certification from the Bureau of Public Procurement in 2013.
Her appointment is expected to bring her wealth of experience, strong academic background and institutional knowledge to bear on BOUESTI’s financial administration and strategic development.
The appointment also underscores FUNAAB’s role in nurturing professional expertise and administrative leadership, as its personnel continue to assume key positions across Nigeria’s higher education sector.
