EYEAN CATTLE DEALERS ASSOCIATION REMOVES BOT CHAIRMAN AND SECRETARY OVER ALLEGED ₦116 MILLION MISCONDUCT.

The Eyean Cattle Dealers Association in Benin City, Edo State, has removed its Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman, Idris Adano, and Secretary, Awall Shafie, over allegations of financial misconduct involving ₦116 million.

The decision was reached during a meeting of the association’s seven-member Board of Trustees held on April 25, 2026, where five trustees voted in favour of the removal of the two officials.

Following the decision, the board elected Jidda Tahir as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees, while Ibrahim Shariff emerged as the new BOT Secretary.

According to members of the board, the leadership changes were made in the interest of accountability, transparency and the effective management of the association’s affairs.

The trustees maintained that the action was taken in accordance with the association’s internal governance procedures after deliberating on allegations relating to the management of ₦116 million.

The newly constituted leadership is expected to oversee the affairs of the association and work towards restoring confidence among members while strengthening financial accountability.

Stakeholders within the association have expressed hope that the leadership transition will promote transparency, improve governance and ensure prudent management of the association’s resources.

The development underscores the growing emphasis on accountability and sound corporate governance within trade and commodity associations operating across Nigeria’s livestock sector.
