DELTA ATTRACTS FOREIGN INVESTORS TO AGRICULTURE, ENERGY AND MANUFACTURING SECTORS.

Delta State has attracted fresh interest from international investors following inspection tours of major business and industrial facilities as part of activities marking the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit.

Representatives from Brazil, Malaysia and the United States visited key investment locations across the state to explore opportunities in agriculture, energy and manufacturing and assess prospects for collaboration with the state government.

Speaking after the inspection exercise, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, said the tour was organised to give prospective investors firsthand knowledge of the state’s investment environment and existing business operations.

He said Delta State was seeking investors capable of providing capital, modern technology and technical expertise to accelerate economic growth.

Onyeme assured the foreign delegation that the state government remained committed to providing a secure and business-friendly environment for both local and international investors.

The delegation visited the Kwale Special Economic Zone, where it inspected the Kwale Gas Gathering Hub and Phoenix Company. It also toured Skyward Resources Group in Oleh and Uzezi Farms in Oyede to assess ongoing investments and agricultural production activities.

Leader of the Brazilian agribusiness delegation, Roberto Fonseca, commended the development of the Kwale Special Economic Zone, describing it as a strategic project capable of attracting international businesses and supporting industrial expansion.

Fonseca disclosed that Brazilian investors were considering opportunities in natural gas-powered electricity generation and cassava processing, expressing optimism that economic cooperation between Brazil and Nigeria would deepen through investments in Delta State.

He also said Brazil was willing to support Nigeria’s efforts to increase food production by providing agricultural technology, investment and technical expertise.

According to him, there are additional opportunities for collaboration in livestock production and beef processing, areas in which Brazil has significant experience.

The Malaysian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Aiyub Omar, also identified agriculture as a major area of interest, revealing that Malaysian companies with expertise in oil palm cultivation were exploring opportunities to partner with Delta State in expanding commercial plantations.

Founder of Agrinexus, Dr Shermal Perera, said his organisation already maintains working relationships with Nigerian partners and is assessing additional investment opportunities in the state.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Skyward Resources Group, Chief Eta Enahoro, said the company had previously benefited from technical collaboration with Brazilian experts.

He expressed the company’s readiness to explore further partnerships capable of strengthening and expanding its agricultural operations.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Festus Ahon, said the investment tour was part of activities organised during the summit to showcase Delta State’s economic potential and investment opportunities to prospective international investors.

The engagement is expected to open new opportunities for foreign investment, technology transfer, agricultural development, job creation and industrial expansion across Delta State.
