BOA FINANCING HELPS SOUTH-EAST CASSAVA FARMER GROW OUTPUT FROM 30 TO 1,000 BAGS

Access to agricultural finance from the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has transformed the farming operations of Emisun Egwa, a cassava farmer in South-East Nigeria, enabling him to expand production and create greater opportunities for growth.

According to Emisun Egwa, his cassava output has increased from about 30 bags to between 500 and 1,000 bags, demonstrating the potential impact of accessible financing on agricultural productivity and farm expansion.

The remarkable increase highlights the importance of financial support in helping farmers improve their production capacity, strengthen their agribusinesses and respond to growing market demand.

Beyond the growth recorded on his farm, Emisun Egwa said the benefits of the financial support extend to the people working alongside him, creating opportunities for shared growth and improved livelihoods.

His experience illustrates how agricultural financing can generate benefits beyond individual farm owners by supporting farm workers and other participants in the agricultural value chain.

The Bank of Agriculture reaffirmed its commitment to providing financial support to farmers and agribusinesses across Nigeria, recognising their role in driving agricultural development, strengthening rural livelihoods and improving food security.

The bank noted that investing in farmers contributes to stronger agribusinesses, better livelihoods and a more resilient food system.

Emisun Egwa’s experience underscores the potential of agricultural finance to transform farming operations, improve productivity and support sustainable growth across Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
