World Aquaculture Society Announces Keynote Speaker for Tanzania 2026 Conference.
The World Aquaculture Society (WAS) has announced Professor Peter Britz, Professor Emeritus from the Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science at Rhodes University, South Africa, as the keynote speaker for the World Aquaculture Tanzania 2026 Conference (WA26T), scheduled to hold from December 1–4, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

WA26T will take place from December 1–4, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, bringing together aquaculture stakeholders from nearly 100 countries.
Professor Britz is a globally respected fisheries and aquaculture expert with extensive contributions to aquaculture research, fisheries governance, policy development, and value chain advancement across Africa.
His keynote address is titled “Why African Aquaculture Development Needs to Shift from a Technology Transfer Focus to a Value Chain Development Approach.”
The presentation will emphasize the importance of human capacity development, value chain strengthening, access to finance, business management skills, and institutional support as key drivers of sustainable aquaculture growth in Africa.
The conference theme, “Aquaculture Driving Blue Transformation,” highlights the role of aquaculture in promoting food security, economic development, innovation, and environmental sustainability.
WA26T will feature high-level plenary sessions, scientific presentations, exhibitions, networking opportunities, and discussions on emerging trends and innovations in the global aquaculture industry.
