The Association of Fish Farmers in Kwara (AFFAK), in collaboration with FAO Nigeria, FISH4ACP, and the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), has launched a weekly radio programme aimed at promoting sustainable aquaculture practices and strengthening the capacity of fish farmers across Kwara State.
The programme, titled “Best Management Practices in Fish Farming,” commenced this week and will be broadcast every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on SOBI FM.
According to statement released by AFFAK admin Engr Olawuyi AbdulAkeem, the initiative is designed to provide fish farmers and other aquaculture stakeholders with practical knowledge, technical guidance, and proven management practices that can improve fish production, profitability, and sustainability.
Engr Olawuyi AbdulAkeem noted that the programme will serve as a knowledge-sharing platform where experts, industry leaders and practitioners will discuss lessons learned, innovative farming techniques and best management practices that farmers can adopt to enhance productivity.
The maiden edition features representatives of the AFFAK President, the Board of Trustees (BOT) and JDPC, while subsequent editions will continue every Wednesday through 7 October 2026.
AFFAK has encouraged all its members and aquaculture stakeholders to tune in regularly, participate actively and apply the knowledge gained from the programme to improve fish farming operations across the state.
The association expressed appreciation to its members for their continued cooperation and support while reaffirming its commitment to promoting sustainable aquaculture development through strategic partnerships with FAO Nigeria, FISH4ACP and JDPC.
The AFFAK Secretariat also prayed for the continued well-being, prosperity and success of members, their families and businesses as the association continues to advance the growth of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Kwara State.
