The Government of Tanzania, in collaboration with the World Aquaculture Society (WAS), will officially launch the World Aquaculture 2026 with Aquaculture Africa 2026 (AFRAQ26) during a special event scheduled to hold on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Tanzania Fisheries Corporation (TAFICO), Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
According to the event announcement, the launch will formally introduce preparations for World Aquaculture 2026 with AFRAQ26, one of the world’s leading aquaculture conferences, which is expected to take place in Dar es Salaam from December 1 to 4, 2026.
A major highlight of the launch event will be the signing of the Conference Hosting Agreement between the Government of Tanzania and the World Aquaculture Society (WAS). The agreement is expected to strengthen collaboration between both parties while creating awareness and international publicity ahead of the global conference.
The launch is organized by the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) and the World Aquaculture Society African Chapter, and hosted by the United Republic of Tanzania Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries alongside the Ministry of Blue Economy and Fisheries, Zanzibar.
The conference is expected to bring together aquaculture professionals, researchers, policymakers, investors, students, and industry stakeholders from Africa and around the world to discuss innovations, sustainable fish production, investment opportunities, technology, and policies driving the growth of the aquaculture sector.
The event also enjoys support from several international organizations and industry partners, including AUDA-NEPAD as the conference sponsor, Aller Aqua as the chapter corporate sponsor, and other premier sponsors such as Zeigler, Blue Aqua, April Aqua, Aqua Group, Pharmaq, INVE Aquaculture, Care for Growth, and Devee Group.
World Aquaculture 2026 with AFRAQ26 is expected to reinforce Tanzania’s position as a strategic destination for aquaculture development in Africa while promoting knowledge exchange, partnerships, investment, and innovation across the global blue economy.
