GROWING GLOBAL AQUACULTURE SECTOR OPEN NEW JOBS FOR PROFESSIONALS AND GRADUATES

As the global aquaculture industry continues to expand career opportunities are emerging for professionals seeking to contribute to sustainable seafood production, fish health management and marine innovation.

With increasing demand for skilled manpower across research, production, advisory services and workforce development. Several international aquaculture vacancies have been announced for qualified candidates and fresh graduates alike.

In Norway, a four-year Industry PhD Researcher position is currently open at Cermaq Norway, focusing on Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) fish health and microbiome research. The role is designed for candidates with a Master’s degree in microbiology, fish physiology, aquaculture or related disciplines. Applicants are expected to be fluent in both Norwegian and English.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines a Lead Aquaculture Technician role is available in Quezon City. The position involves supervising daily farm operations, monitoring water quality and ensuring fish health management. Fresh graduates with qualifications in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Biology or related fields are encouraged to apply.

In India, aspiring aquaculture professionals have the opportunity to work as Aquaculture Advisors through the Animall Bhai App. The role focuses on providing remote tele-consultation services to rural fish farmers offering guidance on pond management, fish diseases and preventive measures. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries are eligible while fresh graduates are also welcome.

Similarly, in Florida, United States an Aquaculture Program Specialist position has been announced under Florida Sea Grant’s HARVEST apprenticeship programme. The role aims to strengthen workforce development by connecting aquaculture businesses with apprentices to foster industry growth and capacity building.

Additionally, opportunities exist for Microalgae Technicians specializing in large-scale cultivation of Nannochloropsis, culture scale-up and equipment maintenance. Interested candidates are expected to possess at least two years of experience in algae cultivation or marine operations.

Industry stakeholders say the growing availability of international aquaculture jobs reflects the sector’s increasing importance in addressing food security, sustainable seafood production and technological advancement in fisheries and marine ecosystems.
