BOA TARGETS NATIONWIDE TRACTOR DEPLOYMENT THROUGH LEGISLATIVE PARTNERSHIP.

The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has intensified efforts to enhance mechanised farming across the country through a proposed legislative partnership aimed at facilitating nationwide tractor deployment for farmers and agribusiness operators.

The initiative is part of broader strategies to improve agricultural productivity, reduce manual farming challenges and strengthen food production systems within Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

According to officials the partnership seeks to provide farmers with increased access to modern agricultural machinery and equipment capable of improving cultivation efficiency, expanding farm operations and boosting overall output.

The BOA noted that inadequate mechanisation remains one of the major constraints affecting agricultural productivity in Nigeria stressing that improved access to tractors and modern farming technologies would significantly support national food security goals.

Stakeholders explained that the proposed collaboration with lawmakers is expected to strengthen policy support, mobilise investments and create sustainable financing structures for agricultural mechanisation programmes across the country.

The initiative is also projected to benefit smallholder farmers by reducing production costs, improving land preparation and enhancing operational efficiency during planting and harvesting seasons.

Agricultural experts have commended the move noting that large-scale mechanisation remains essential for modernising farming systems, increasing competitiveness and attracting youth participation into agriculture.

The Bank of Agriculture reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and partnerships capable of accelerating agricultural transformation, improving rural livelihoods and driving sustainable economic growth through mechanised farming.
