KWACCIMA VICE PRESIDENT URGES YOUTH TO EMBRACE MODERN AGRIBUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES.

The weekly Programme of AGRIC DISCUSSION on Agripreneur Insights TV featured an engaging discussion on the theme, “Mandate and Activities of KWACCIMA Relating to Agribusiness,” with the Vice President of Agriculture in KWACCIMA, Alhaji Ibrahim Adebayo as the special guest.

During the programme, Alhaji Adebayo highlighted the various ways the organisation supports farmers across the poultry, fisheries and crop production value chains. According to him local farmers can benefit immensely by becoming members of the chamber as KWACCIMA regularly organises seminars, training sessions and capacity building programmes designed to expose farmers to modern agricultural techniques and innovations that can improve productivity and business growth.

He explained that the chamber is committed to empowering agribusiness owners with the right knowledge and skills needed to compete in today’s agricultural sector.

He noted that through mentorship and educational programmes farmers are introduced to better production practices, marketing strategies and business opportunities capable of expanding their operations.

Speaking on youth participation in agriculture the KWACCIMA Agriculture Vice President encouraged Gen Z to change their perception about farming, stressing that agriculture has evolved beyond the traditional practice of tilling the land.

According to him modern agriculture now offers diverse opportunities in technology, branding, processing, digital marketing, logistics and agribusiness management.

He stated that the organisation plans to organise special training programmes targeted at young people to help them discover profitable areas within the agricultural sector.

Alhaji Adebayo further urged youths to explore the use of social media platforms in promoting and advertising agricultural products. He encouraged them to focus on proper branding and attractive packaging to increase visibility, attract customers, and boost sales.

He also revealed that KWACCIMA serves as an advocacy platform for farmers and agribusiness operators by engaging and lobbying government authorities on policies and support systems that can improve agricultural production and market access for farmers.

In addition, he spoke on the importance of agricultural processing services noting that value addition remains a key factor in increasing profitability within the sector.

He explained that processing agricultural products into finished or semi-finished goods not only reduces waste but also creates employment opportunities and improves income generation for farmers and agribusiness entrepreneurs.

The programme ended with a call on Nigerians especially young people to embrace agribusiness as a sustainable pathway to economic growth, food security and self-reliance.
