The World Agriculture Forum (WAF) has highlighted the challenges facing global food systems and the need for innovation, stronger support for farmers and international cooperation to build a more secure and sustainable food future.
The call was featured in a World Food Day article by the Forum’s Executive Director, Dr. M. J. Khan, which examines the challenges confronting food systems and opportunities to strengthen global food security.
According to the World Agriculture Forum, addressing these challenges requires coordinated efforts to improve agricultural productivity, support farmers and promote innovative solutions across the agricultural value chain.
The Forum emphasised the importance of empowering farmers with the resources, knowledge and opportunities needed to increase production, improve livelihoods and respond to emerging challenges in agriculture.
It also underscored the role of international cooperation in strengthening food systems, encouraging knowledge-sharing and developing practical solutions to food security challenges across countries.
The article reinforces the need for stakeholders across the agricultural sector, including governments, development organisations, researchers and agribusinesses, to work together towards building resilient food systems capable of meeting the needs of a growing global population.
Through its World Food Day message, the World Agriculture Forum reaffirmed the importance of innovation, farmer support and global partnerships in advancing agricultural development and securing the future of food.
