BANK OF AGRICULTURE JOINS MAIZE SECTOR ALLIANCE FOR KADUNA FARMER FIELD DAY

The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has joined the Maize Sector Alliance for the Kaduna State Farmer Field Day, TELA Maize Demonstration and Learning Event, aimed at strengthening maize production, improving farmers productivity and promoting greater food security in Nigeria.

The two-day event is scheduled to take place from October 6 to 7, 2026, at Hanwa Mai Mashi along Kano Road, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The Farmer Field Day and demonstration event brings together farmers and stakeholders within the maize value chain to promote practical learning and the adoption of improved agricultural practices and technologies that can support higher yields and more efficient maize production.

A key focus of the event is the demonstration of TELA maize, with emphasis on learning approaches that can help farmers improve production outcomes, strengthen crop protection and enhance resilience within the maize value chain.

The participation of the Bank of Agriculture underscores the importance of collaboration among financial institutions, farmers, technology providers and other stakeholders in addressing challenges across the agricultural sector.

Improved maize productivity remains important to Nigeria’s food security, given the crop’s significance as a major food, feed and industrial commodity. Efforts that support farmers with improved technologies, knowledge and access to relevant agricultural support can contribute to increased production and a more resilient maize value chain.

The event is also expected to provide an avenue for farmers to interact with agricultural stakeholders, gain practical knowledge and better understand opportunities for improving farm productivity.

The Bank of Agriculture reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen agricultural value chains, empower farmers and contribute to a more productive and prosperous agricultural sector.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building a stronger maize sector through improved farming practices, greater productivity and increased opportunities for farmers.

Through initiatives such as the Kaduna State Farmer Field Day, stakeholders are working towards a maize value chain capable of delivering stronger yields, improved protection and greater productivity while contributing to Nigeria’s broader food security goals.
