MACBAN RAISES ALARM OVER FRESH ATTACK ON HERDERS IN PLATEAU.

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has raised concerns over a fresh attack on herders in Plateau State, alleging that one herder was killed and 18 cattle died in Nyarwai village, Fan District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

Plateau State Chairman of MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, disclosed this in a statement, saying two other herders were injured while several cattle were also reportedly rustled during the incident.

According to Babayo, the herders were tending their cattle at about 1 p.m. when they came under attack by gunmen he identified as “Berom militias.”

He described the incident as unprovoked and “one too many,” saying the latest attack had heightened concerns over the safety of lives and livelihoods in the area.

Babayo identified the deceased as Yakubu Ishaku and called on security agencies to investigate the incident, apprehend those responsible and ensure that they face justice.

“The cycle of violence must not continue without accountability,” he said.

The MACBAN chairman also urged the Plateau State Government to strengthen the protection of lives and property across the state, irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation.

Babayo appealed to members of the Fulani community to remain calm, avoid retaliatory attacks and cooperate with security agencies as investigations into the incident continue.
