The Association of Fish Farmers in Kwara State (AFFAK) has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the association and strengthen efforts to boost fish production, farmers’ welfare and the development of the aquaculture sector in the state.
The election was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026, at the AFFAK Secretariat during the association’s monthly congress. The exercise produced a new leadership team saddled with the responsibility of building on the progressive strides recorded by the association.
In a statement release by the Electoral Committee Secretary Mr Jamiu Adediran via AFFAK official WhatsApp platform. Brig. General Tayo S. Oladipo of Abeokuta/Farm Zero emerged as the President of AFFAK. He will be supported by Mr. Muritala Omotosho Adamu as Vice President (Administration) and Mr. Hasheem Olayiwola Ibraheem as Vice President (Operations).
Other elected principal officers include Mr. Abdullahi Oladapo Akanbi as Secretary General; Mr. Taiye AbdulSamad Edun as Assistant Secretary General; Pastor Oluwasegun Mathew Komolafe as PRO I; and Mr. Akeem Tunde Yekini as PRO II.
The new financial and welfare leadership comprises Hajia Mujidat Folake Taoheeb-Rabiu as Treasurer I, Mr. Jamiu Kolawole Munirudeen as Treasurer II, Mr. Abdul Kareem Olalekan Abdulafeez as Financial Secretary I, Mr. Joshua Temitope Akinniran as Financial Secretary II, Alhaja Rukayat O. Abdulrazaq as Welfare Secretary I and Mr. Sodiq Seyi Yusuf as Welfare Secretary II.
Also elected were Mr. Abdulhakeem Olalekan Mustapha and Mallam Fatai Olasunkami Afolabi as Organizing Secretaries I and II respectively while Alhaji Mukaila Olasunkanmi Mallick and Mr. Emeka Paul Clement emerged as Task Force Secretaries I and II.
In addition to the elected executives, AFFAK also announced Board of Trustees appointments, including Engr. Olawuyi Abdul Akeem as Head of Administration and Special Duties, Engr. Abdulateef Olatoke Bello as Head of Media/ICT, and Mr. Akanni Oluseye Abdulsabur as Head of Research and Development.
The Internal Auditor positions were assigned to Engr. Majeed Tope Jatto and Mr. Ismail Dauda. The appointments are expected to strengthen administration, accountability, research, communication and institutional development within the association.
Meanwhile, the association also unveiled the pioneer executives of the newly established AFFAK-AMCS Cooperative Society. Engr. Abdulateef Bello will serve as Chairman, with Engr. Olawuyi Abdul Akeem as Vice Chairman and Mr. Oladipo Akanbi II as Secretary.
Other pioneer cooperative officers are Mr. Yusuf Sadiq, Assistant Secretary; Hajia Rukayat Ragalima, Treasurer; Pastor Komolafe Matthew, Assistant Treasurer; Mr. Jamiu Adeniran, Financial Secretary; Mr. Abdulafeez Abdulkareem, Assistant Financial Secretary; Alhaji Adamu, PRO I; Mr. Majeed Tope Jatto, PRO II; and Mr. Hasheem Olayiwola Ibrahim, Welfare Officer.
The new leadership is expected to prioritise initiatives that will improve fish farmers’ access to inputs, technical support, markets, finance and other opportunities capable of increasing productivity and profitability across the aquaculture value chain.
The election committee congratulated all the newly elected leaders and expressed appreciation to members for their participation in the electoral process. The new executives are expected to continue the progressive strides of AFFAK while working collectively to advance sustainable fish farming and contribute to food security in Kwara State.
