GAFDAN INAUGURATES NEW EXECUTIVE FOR ILORIN SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The Gan Allah Fulani Association Development of Nigeria (GAFDAN), Kwara State Chapter, has inaugurated a new executive committee to oversee the affairs of the association in Ilorin South Local Government Area of the state.

The inauguration took place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, during the association’s state meeting held at its secretariat located along Km 7, Old Jebba Road, beside Oando Filling Station, Sango, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The event brought together members and representatives of GAFDAN from across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State to deliberate on issues affecting the association, as well as ways of promoting the development and wellbeing of its members.

Speaking during the meeting, the Kwara State Chairman of GAFDAN, Alhaji Sheun Usman, formally introduced the newly appointed Ilorin South Local Government executive members.

The new executive committee is headed by Mr. Umar Juli as Chairman, while Mr. Abubakar Mohammed was appointed Organising Secretary. Mr. Abubakar Ori was announced as the Youth Leader, while Mr. Sanni Abdullahi will serve as the Assistant Vigilante Commander.

The inauguration is expected to strengthen the association’s grassroots structure and improve coordination among its members in Ilorin South Local Government, particularly in areas relating to community development, youth engagement, security and the general welfare of members.

Also speaking, the State Secretary of GAFDAN, Isa Atiku, said the state meeting was organised to bring members together from across the 16 local government areas to discuss the way forward for the development of the association and the wellbeing of its members in Kwara State.

According to him, the meeting also provided an opportunity to welcome new members from Ilorin South into the organisation and strengthen the association’s membership base at the grassroots.

Atiku expressed the association’s support for the administration of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, saying GAFDAN is committed to working with the state government towards achieving good governance and sustainable development.

He further called for continued cooperation between the association, government and relevant stakeholders, noting that such collaboration would contribute to peace, development and improved welfare for communities across the state.

The GAFDAN leadership also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peaceful coexistence, community development and the wellbeing of its members across Kwara State.

The inauguration of the Ilorin South executive marks another step in GAFDAN’s efforts to strengthen its organisational structure and ensure effective representation and leadership at the local government level.

The association expressed optimism that the newly inaugurated executives would work diligently with members and other stakeholders to advance the interests of GAFDAN and contribute positively to the development of Ilorin South and Kwara State at large.
