The World Aquaculture Society (WAS) has celebrated a major milestone in aquaculture innovation as Matt Parker, Treasurer of the World Aquaculture Society, and the Sustainable Precision Aquaculture Network for Shellfish (SPANS) team have been awarded a Grand Challenges Grants 2.0 award in recognition of their groundbreaking research initiative aimed at advancing sustainable aquaculture.
The prestigious award will support cutting-edge research focused on developing innovative technologies and solutions to improve the sustainability, efficiency and resilience of shellfish aquaculture.
The award-winning multidisciplinary team is led by Principal Investigator (PI) Miao Yu (ENGR) and includes Co-Principal Investigators Nikhil Chopra (ENGR), Yang Tao (ENGR), Hemendra Kumar (AGNR), Matt Parker (AGNR) and Don Webster (AGNR).
The Grand Challenges Grants 2.0 investment recognizes the team’s collaborative approach bringing together experts from engineering and agricultural sciences to address some of the most pressing challenges facing modern aquaculture.
