The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development (FMLD) has intensified efforts to secure broad stakeholder support for the successful hosting of the 9th All African Conference on Animal Agriculture (AACAA), scheduled to take place in Nigeria from August 9 to 13, 2026.
Speaking during a meeting with the conference Organising Committee in Abuja, the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, emphasized that stronger collaboration with the private sector, development partners and professional bodies would be essential to delivering a successful continental event.
According to the minister, the conference presents a strategic opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its livestock development agenda, promote innovation and strengthen partnerships aimed at transforming the animal agriculture sector across Africa.
Maiha noted that the event will bring together policymakers, researchers, livestock producers, industry leaders, investors and development organisations to discuss emerging issues, share knowledge and explore sustainable solutions for advancing animal agriculture on the continent.
He stressed that active participation from key stakeholders would be critical to ensuring meaningful deliberations and lasting outcomes capable of enhancing livestock productivity, food security and economic growth.
The minister also highlighted the importance of leveraging the conference to attract investment, promote technology transfer and strengthen regional cooperation in livestock production, animal health and value chain development.
Members of the Organising Committee reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with government agencies and development partners to ensure the successful planning and execution of the conference.
The 9th All African Conference on Animal Agriculture is expected to serve as a major platform for advancing policy dialogue, fostering innovation and promoting sustainable livestock development across Africa.
The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development reiterated its commitment to making the conference a landmark event that will reinforce Nigeria’s leadership role in shaping the future of Africa’s livestock sector.
