OYO GOVT REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR ANTI-OPEN GRAZING LAW.

The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the enforcement of the anti-open grazing law as part of ongoing efforts to promote security, protect agricultural activities and strengthen peaceful coexistence among residents.

Government officials stated that the law remains a critical measure aimed at addressing farmer-herder conflicts, preventing destruction of farmlands and improving public safety across communities within the state.

The administration emphasised that the enforcement of the anti-open grazing policy is intended to encourage modern livestock management practices while supporting sustainable agricultural development and protecting the livelihoods of farmers.

According to the government the law also seeks to promote ranching and other regulated livestock production systems capable of improving productivity, reducing conflicts and ensuring better management of grazing activities.

Stakeholders within the agricultural sector have continued to stress the importance of effective implementation of the policy in safeguarding food production and enhancing rural stability.

The government further reiterated its readiness to collaborate with security agencies, traditional institutions, farmer’s associations and livestock operators to ensure compliance with the law and maintain peace across affected communities.

Analysts believe that sustained enforcement of anti-open grazing regulations could contribute significantly to agricultural growth, food security and social stability within the state.

The Oyo State Government maintained that it remains committed to policies and initiatives capable of strengthening security, protecting investments in agriculture and fostering long-term economic development.
