The Fisheries Society of Nigeria Rivers State Chapter, has announced the emergence of newly elected executive officers to pilot the affairs of the society and strengthen fisheries and aquaculture development within the state.
The Newly Elected Executives are expected to provide leadership, promote professional collaboration among fisheries stakeholders, and advance sustainable aquaculture and fisheries practices in Rivers State and beyond.
Leading the New Executive Council is Prof. Dokuboba Amachree, who emerged as the Chairperson of the society. Dr. Akinrotimi Ojo was elected as the Vice Chairman, while Dr. Davies Ibienebo Chris will serve as the Secretary of the chapter.
Other elected officers include Dr. Simple O. Godwin as Assistant Secretary, Dr. Ikpechi Ovundah Enyi as Financial Secretary, and Dr. Fubara Rita Israel as Treasurer.
The Executive Council also features Dr. Dandison A. B as Welfare Officer, Dr. Gentle Wilson Komi as Public Relations Officer, Dr. Onisowurun Lazarus Ajuru as Assistant Public Relations Officer, while Akurokeokiya Nsobiari Dauphin emerged as the Provost.
Stakeholders within the fisheries and aquaculture sector have expressed optimism that the new leadership will foster unity, encourage professional development, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the fisheries industry in Rivers State.
The election marks another significant step in strengthening the activities of the Fisheries Society of Nigeria at the state chapter level, especially in promoting sustainable fish production, research, innovation, and capacity building among practitioners in the sector.
