ONDO STEPS UP EFFORTS TO DRIVE GROWTH VIA AGRIBUSINESS.

The Ondo State Government has intensified efforts to promote agribusiness development as part of broader strategies aimed at stimulating economic growth, creating employment opportunities and strengthening food production across the state.

The government stated that agriculture remains a major pillar of economic development and reaffirmed its commitment to implementing policies and programmes capable of attracting investments into the agricultural sector.

Officials explained that the renewed focus on agribusiness is designed to encourage value addition, improve productivity, enhance market access and empower farmers, agripreneurs, and small-scale enterprises operating within the agricultural value chain.

The state government also highlighted ongoing initiatives targeted at improving agricultural infrastructure, supporting mechanised farming, expanding extension services and facilitating access to inputs and financing for farmers.

Stakeholders within the sector have commended the administration’s commitment to positioning agriculture as a sustainable driver of economic transformation, noting that increased investment in agribusiness could significantly boost rural development and food security.

The government further expressed readiness to collaborate with private sector investors, development organisations and financial institutions to strengthen agricultural production, processing, storage and distribution systems across the state.

Analysts believe that sustained investment in agribusiness development could enhance Ondo State’s competitiveness within Nigeria’s agricultural economy while contributing to job creation, industrial growth and improved livelihoods for rural communities.

The renewed drive is expected to further position Ondo State as an emerging hub for agribusiness innovation and agricultural investment in the country.
