The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON represented vice president Kashim Shettima GCON on wednesday, 23rd of april at the commissioning of the AFCOTT grains sesame and grains processing facility.

Delivering the vice president address, Senator kyari described the facility as a major milestone in nigeria drive for food security, value addition and agro-industrial transformation.
Shettima commended AFCOTT grains and its parent company, the kewalram chanrail group for their enduring commitment to nigeria with a global legacy spanning over 150years and more than a century of operations in the country, the investment will strengthen the domestic value chain, boost export competitiveness, raise farmer incomes and create jobs.
He noted that the project aligns with the Tinubu administration’s agenda of expanding domestic production, promoting local manufacturing and agro-industrialisation, scaling mechanisation under the green imperative programme and driving nigeria towards food sufficiency.
The minister stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains focused on attracting private sector investment into agriculture.
Kyari commended AfCOTT for investing in the sector and urged more stakeholders to partner with government in transforming agriculture into a key driver of economic growth.
Representatives of the Kano State Government and key industry players who attended the event described the facility as timely, saying it would stimulate economic activities in the state and empower farmers and agribusiness operators.
The commissioning of the AfCOTT grains facility is expected to further position Kano as a major hub for agricultural trade and processing in Northern Nigeria.
